Lesson 57 Noobie
Talking About Traveling
If you're a foreigner in Turkey, people are going to ask about your travel plans. Nothing says "I'm a sophisticated cosmopolitan adventurer" like answering in Turkish.
Psst! Want to access

Thanks so much :)
It is a little weird, right? You understand exactly what's going on, already, but suffice to say it's a little colloquial.
Your sentence also works. Nice :)

Cotton Panda
Ah I too thought that it should've been "Bir arkadaşımla kalıyorum". Thanks for pointing out it's a colloquial sentence :)

Thank you! We love you, too :)
I'm not sure exactly what you're asking. Maybe you can clarify? Those three suffixes are all very different from each other.
de/da is the locative, and means "at" or "in." (Or if it's a word and not a suffix, it means "also.")
ya as a word is an emphatic, used to express a lot of emotion. If it's a suffix, then it's a dative suffix with a buffer y meaning "to."
The "e" is the dative suffix meaning "to."

I mean why should i say "Turkye'ye gidyorum " not "Turkey'de gidyorum"?
Rhys
Türkiye'ye would be 'to Turkey' while Türkiye'de is 'in Turkey'. Saying Türkiye'de gidiyorum wouldn't make much sense as it would mean 'I am going in Turkey', like its some kind of vehicle.

Video in the fun section isn't working.

Hi, thank you for these lessons. I find them quite helpful. Unfortunately, there seems to be an error on the quiz. I’ve typed exactly what you say the correct answers are for the last two questions. But it’s saying they are wrong. So I can’t unlock the fun tab :(. I know I can just move onto the next lesson. But I rather enjoy unlocking those fun tabs.
BTW, Justin, Bengi, et. al...- I LOVE Turkish Tea Time. Such a excellent study source!!
